35th Anniversary
Gratitude Report2025
Celebrating three and a half decades of partnership, belief, and shared purpose — made possible by you.
“My son has attended Saddle Up! for the past 3 years and the pure passion and pride that he shows when riding his horse, Harley, well, quite frankly, brings me more joy than I can express.”
— Saddle Up! Rider Parent
A Message From Our Executive Director
Thirty-five years ago, Saddle Up! opened its gates with a simple but courageous vision: to create a place where children and young adults with disabilities could discover strength, confidence, and connection through horses.
What began as a small grassroots effort has become a thriving community — and as we celebrate this 35th anniversary, it is clear that every step of that journey has been shaped by you. This Gratitude Report is not just a reflection on the past year; it is a celebration of three and a half decades of partnership, belief, and shared purpose.
In 2025, you once again showed up in extraordinary ways. Together, our community raised more than $1.3 million to support programs, horses, staff, volunteers, and the farm itself. Because of you, we have been able to keep lesson fees intentionally low, even as costs rise across every aspect of our work. Families pay no more than $35 for an hour of Adaptive Riding, while the true cost of delivering that experience is $268. Your support makes that access possible.
Your gifts funded 5,366 hours of therapy and instruction last year and provided financial assistance to 12% of our riders — opening doors for families who otherwise would not be able to take part. For many, Saddle Up! is not simply an activity; it is a vital source of growth, stability, and belonging.
As we celebrate our 35th year, we are also looking boldly to the future. In 2025, our board unanimously approved the expansion of our physical facilities — the first in 25 years. We are thrilled to break ground this spring. It is a meaningful way to honor our 35th anniversary and a powerful first step toward the impact we hope to celebrate together at our 50th.
What has not changed in 35 years is this truth: Saddle Up! exists because people like you believe in it. We are deeply grateful for your continued trust, generosity, and partnership. You are not just donors. You are part of the Saddle Up! story.

“My son has been riding at Saddle Up! for three years, and it keeps getting better for him. It is the only therapy that he always loves and looks forward to! His confidence has soared, and his riding is improving with each lesson. Zachary is autistic and nonverbal, though you don't need words to see how happy he is as you watch his body relax into the rhythm and movement of the horse.”

“Saddle Up! has been a life-changing organization for our family. Our daughter has participated in programs spanning from therapy services to adaptive riding. Watching the joy and excitement she experiences when she walks through the door every week is infectious and highlights the impact Saddle Up! has on the children they serve. My oldest daughter also rides horses, and it is priceless as a parent to see the sisters bond over horseback riding!”

In Memoriam
Lisa Mitchell
January 29, 1965 — August 22, 2025
With deep sorrow — and with gratitude for a life that blessed so many — we remember our beloved friend, colleague, instructor, and mentor, Lisa Mitchell. Lisa passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on August 22, 2025. Our hearts and prayers remain with Cliff, Chris, and Scarlett, and with the many people whose lives were touched by her kindness, courage, and quiet strength.
Lisa discovered her true calling in 2006 when she began volunteering at Saddle Up!. What started as a gift of time quickly became a lifelong passion. Over the years, she served in countless roles — volunteer, staff member, instructor, mentor — always guided by her love for the riders and the horses. Lisa helped develop our vaulting program, something she was especially proud of, and rightfully so.
Even after being diagnosed with an aggressive glioblastoma in April 2023, she continued to give as much of herself as she could to Saddle Up! and to “her riders.” She often said that the people, horses, and mission of Saddle Up! gave her strength and purpose throughout her fight.
“You're just eternally grateful for people that love your children — and oh, how Lisa loved them all. She was amazing.” — Saddle Up! Parent
